1.
Did we communicate with you clearly? Yes, at
every turn.
2. Did the quality of our work meet your expectations?
The quality exceeded my expectations.
3. Did we complete the work within the agreed
budget? Yes.
Having
been burned twice during my first restoration project,
I decided to seek out a top notch shop for my custom
'67 Camaro. I spoke to several shop owners around
the country, and chose Doug Jenkins for his no-nonsense
approach and sincere interest in my wife's and my
dream car. We spent over a year customizing this
car, with each step discussed thoroughly and every
discovery fully disclosed. I was given choices at
every turn, and budgets for each option. My visits
to the shop were always fun and interesting, as
the multitude of projects spanned the gamut of the
world of Hot Rods.
The car is real head-turner, from its sleek, sexy
lines to the rumble of its monster motor. The overdrive
makes it a great freeway cruiser, it stops on a
dime and handles turns better then the original.
Thanks for a great ride, Doug!

My
2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 (known as: "The Beast")
is always a work in progress. It's not only a daily
driver, but a show car and race car as well. Doug
Jenkins did all the custom body work, from the suicide
doors to the body kit to the custom paint and ghost
flames. He and his employees enjoyed the challenge
of a late model car, and the quality of the work
was second to none. Of the two other Chargers with
suicide doors I know of, mine is the only one whose
doors do not sag! Thanks for putting the Beauty
on "The Beast", Doug!

1.
Did we communicate with you clearly? Absolutely!
Since my father and I have been the only people
ever to work on the car, I had quite a bit of hesitation
when I had a fender bender and had to have someone
else fix it for me. The staff at Doug Jenkins were
very friendly and courteous. I spoke on the phone
almost every day with Jon in the beginning... and
even until the end, at least every couple of days.
Frequently, I received pictures of the progress
and updates on the work being done. I was never
afraid that something was going to be messed up
because I was in such frequent contact with Jon.
2. Did the quality of our work meet your expectations?
The car looks better than it did before the collision!
I had purchased a new cowl induction hood and it
was prepared and placed on the car with perfection.
I am very pleased with the quality of work that
was done.
3. Did we complete the work within the agreed
budget? This was primarily an insurance case,
but I did pay for several other fixes while the
car was in the shop. The labor rate and parts prices
were very reasonable. As with any classic car, they
informed me of the further work that could be done
and the problems that may arise if not finished,
however, even when I chose not to fix certain things,
they were very understanding and professional about
it. These guys run a grade "A" classic car service
shop!

Boys and their Toys'. Guess I meet the 'Boomer'
profile (60 y.o.), early retired professional, familiar
with the concept of due diligence, and in search
of affordable, restoration work SECOND TO NONE …..
I live in Annapolis, Maryland, researched the internet,

Doug on the phone, and took the 'LEAP OF FAITH'….
Phase
One (mechanicals) of a three phase project is now
complete. My '87 'ELKY' is downstairs in the garage
resting with it's new 350 c.i. 350 h.p. engine,
Gaylord remote 'pop top' bed cover, and custom built
Elderbrok 'true dual's' that sound OUTRAGEOUS.
I had the shop give me a few examples of ole' fashioned

I've been JENKINIZED - what else can I say!

1.
Did we communicate with you clearly? Yes. Verbal
updates along with weekly updates via e-mail, including
pictures of the car's "work-in-progress" was most
helpful.
2. Did the quality of our work meet your expectations?
Yes. The paint quality met and exceeded my expectations
and the interior work most defiantly exceeded my
expectations.
3. Did we complete the work within the agreed
budget? Yes. Fortunately there was no other
"work" that was needed after the restoration began.
The job was bid (and cost) as discussed before the
job began.
Please
provide a brief story regarding your restoration
project and your experience with Doug Jenkins. Everyone
that I dealt with was very professional about this
job. From Doug coming out to pick-up the car to
being delivered to my office (via trailer). I was
nervous about turning my car over to someone for
this much work, however my fears were alleviated
by the expert staff at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods!
Thank You for all your hard work!!

I
will have to say working with the guys At Doug Jenkins
was, a complete pleasure! Not only were they willing
to spend allot of time on the phone with me, but
they were also very patient, as I can be kind of
a bother when it comes to knowing all the little
details about things.
I Dealt mainly with Chris, but every one I had an
opportunity to talk to was very very nice and professional.
The work done was top notch and when they set a
deadline for being done, boy, do they mean it! The
turnaround time on my car was actually quicker than
at first estimated. The price was right on the money
also. My overall experience with Doug Jenkins and
the employees there was a very pleasant and great
experience, and I would recommend them to anyone
wanting quality work and service from a custom body
and modification shop.......My hat's off to you
guys, Keep up the outstanding work......

I've
owned this Mustang for 15 years. It was my daily
driver throughout the last part of college. After
college it was gradually replaced by newer Mustangs
and eventually more "family" oriented vehicles.
I started restoring the car approximately 5 years
ago but my duties as an Army officer kept me from
making very much head way. My wife was starting
to call this the project that never ends. Finally
prior to the start of my latest deployment I took
the car to Doug Jenkins where Doug and Jon worked
out a course of restoration that was within my budget
and would focus on items that I had no experience
with, mainly the body and paint. Thanks to Doug
Jenkins Custom Hot Rods I now have an outstanding
looking body and paint job. Now all that is left
is for me finish the drive train and suspension
upgrades I have in mind. I also know that if I get
to the point where I'm not making much headway again,
Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Shop can pick up where I
left off with excellent results.

Doug
Jenkins and the team did a very good job communicating
everything. With a project as big as this, there
are always surprises, but the surprises were kept
at a very minimum because of the exhaustive work
performed prior to quoting.
Doug's
name is on the building, but unlike most other shops,
the future and progress does not depend on Doug:
he has very capable and professional employees who
have that great mid-west can-do attitude.
The trust factor weighed very heavily. Had it to
do over again, I would do nothing different. I will
definitely consider driving the 1000 miles from
home to take my next project to Doug Jenkins.

My
wife purchased the car in 1966. The car was inactive
from 1987 to 2008. Finally we made up our mind to
do something and this is the finished product. We
are very satisfied with the car and as soon as the
rain stops we will be out showing it off. A nice
touch were the bolts for the plates, I was about
to buy some. Thanks

Having
purchased my 1956 as a 16 year old and continuing
to drive it like it was just from the factory 15
years later, it was imperative to me that I find
someone who would love the car as much as I do.
Not having a mechanical background meant I needed
someone willing to answer any question at any time
throughout the process. Both Doug and Wayne communicated
with me on a regular basis, answered anything that
was on my mind and more importantly made sure that
I was happy. Their goal was 100% satisfaction and
we worked together until that was the case. Even
today, one year later Doug and his team responded
to an enquiry of mine quickly, promptly and knew
exactly what I needed. I appreciate their professionalism,
expertise and am happy to report that my daily ride
is the coolest one on the block!

Fortunately
for our family, Doug & his crew do cars. They fix'em,
we enjoy'em. They have expertly restored our Honda
Prelude and Mini Cooper (fender benders), a 911
Porsche (severe hail damage), a XJ6 Jaguar (rust
eliminated, all new leather, new engine/transmission,
electrical, suspension), and were indispensable
in helping us select and care for our 500HP Superperformance
Cobra. While a dealer does our leased car, Doug
& friends care for our family of cars. Thanks

I
am VERY happy with the work that was done to my
car. It looks great and I have to say it is running
better then it EVER has!! I am very happy with the
attention and service that you and the company provided.
My Mustang has a lot of sentimental value to me.
My father and I rebuilt it when I was in high school.
(we won't mention how long ago that was) It is not
a show car but I want to be able to enjoy and keep
it in good running condition for the next 17 years
that I have it. I am very pleased that your company
respected where I am coming from. I would love to
hand them the car and say fix it ALL but financially
I can't do that. Your company assessed the car and
we formed a series of projects over a time frame
that I can financially handle. There was no pressure
to do it ALL right now. I was kept up to date with
pictures and e-mails as this project went along.
The work, attention and respect for myself and my
car was greatly appreciated. The interior looks
like I remember it 17 years ago. Thanks again!!

1.
Did we communicate with you clearly? Yes, the
process was very user-friendly.
2.
Did the quality of our work meet your expectations?
Overall, yes. The paint job is fantastic and the
car still runs well. I found a couple of paint or
finish flaws after taking delivery, most of which
were fixed at no cost a few months later. I have
since noticed a spot on the right rear quarter panel
where the white paint has a mix of the "cloudy"
color from the flame job when observed in the sun.
3.
Did we complete the work within the agreed budget?
Yes.
Please
provide a brief story regarding your restoration
project and your experience with Doug Jenkins.
I've owned this car since 1980 when I joined the
Army. It was almost a daily driver until I put it
up on blocks in 1990 because I couldn't afford to
keep it up while traveling around the world. Then
in 2005 I had the ability to have the body restored
and repainted, and to get the engine
and suspension running again. The guys at Doug Jenkins
were great to work with and turned my patriotic
ideas into a beautiful reality in late 2005. I've
restored the interior since then and drive it only
for pleasure on sunny weekends. It has turned thousands
of heads in Kansas! One of these days I'll give
the motor the full hot rod job treatment.

1. Did we communicate with you clearly? Yes,
verbal instructions were backed up by email. Project
was divided into subprojects and each subproject
outlined according to parts needed, estimated labor
and timelines with expected endpoints. There were
numerous face to face discussions as the project
unwound. New options were offered and pointed out
on other cars.
2.
Did the quality of our work meet your expectations?
Quality of work was excellent. Body work and paint
were top notch. This included welding of new panels,
frame straightening, fitment of new fenders, hood
and trunk lid, etc, followed by priming and painting.
3.
Did we complete the work within the agreed budget?
Yes. No subproject was initiated without me
knowing what the budget was for parts, labor, time,
etc. Changes were added due to unanticipated problem
areas (hidden rust) or improvements (Heidt's Mustang
II rack and pinion steering, 4-wheel disc brakes,
9-inch rear end). The work was not inexpensive,
but the quality was worth it and I knew what the
costs were ahead of time.
Please
provide a brief story regarding your restoration
project and your experience with Doug Jenkins.
I met Doug at a local car show and was impressed
with the quality of work on the cars he had on display.
In particular, I was amazed with the custom modifications
and improvements that he made to his projects. Besides
straightforward restorations, he could do quality
restomod work to maintain the classic look of a
project, but add safety features like better braking
and steering systems as well as improve upon the
drivetrain, sound system, interior design, etc.
of the factory vehicle. Since I work near his shop,
I have visited my project 2-3 times a week to take
pictures of the progress, talk with Mike about work
to be done and discuss costs. I also routinely talk
with the mechanics and body men about the work.
My project is still ongoing because I want all the
best stuff done to it and this takes time and money.
But I could not be happier with the results to this
point. I look forward to finishing up my 67 Mustang
and driving and showing it. I would recommend Doug
Jenkins Custom Hot Rod Shop unequivocally.

Dear
Doug Jenkins,
It
was a great pleasure to meet you and to see and
hear you knowledge and excitement you have for you
customers’ cars. Thank you for the work your crew
performed on our 1967 Camaro, Dave and Brian were
a pleasure to work with. They both kept me informed
of the progress being done and were extremely patient
with me whenever I wanted to come down and see the
car or add another project for Dave to do. The love
and enthusiasm you and your entire crew at the shop
have for working on all types of vehicles and the
ability to go above and beyond at times to please
your customers was evident whenever I stopped in.
It is one thing to do quality work, but to perform
this with love, enthusiasm, and with your customer’s
best interest in mind, is in my opinion the description
of your business. I will be sure to pass your name
along to other people.
Sincerely
yours,

Overall, [the quality of Doug's work] probably exceeded
what I hoped for. There were only a couple little
things (I expected some) that we found prior to
delivery that were corrected. I actually liked being
told, "Take it and drive it for a couple weeks,
any little things that you find aren't exactly how
you like, bring it back and we'll correct them."
That took the pressure off of going thru everything
on delivery day when I was excited just to have
it back.
I
had the truck mechanically restored about a year
and a half prior out in California and had been
driving it all rusted out since that time, but the
rust started getting worse here in Missouri. I had
been working on rust and body work in my garage
for some time, ignoring the kids and wife and making
a huge mess. I took a few parts in to get media
blasted first. The parts came back in about a week
looking great and very reasonably priced. Then I
took the truck down to get an estimate on some fabrication
work for irreplaceable parts. After talking to Doug
about what I ultimately wanted to do with the truck,
he shared my enthusiasm, we bounced ideas off of
one another for a while.
Although
I only took the truck down for some minor work I
went ahead and had him keep the truck about a week
while I was out of town and give me several estimates
from doing part of the work all the way up to the
whole enchilada. What sold me was that everyone
in the shop seemed enthusiastic about the project.
I stopped in several times during the process, took
my kids down to see it and everyone there was fantastic.
They like what they do, they're good at it and I
think it shows. Just look at that paint job, where
are you gonna go and ask someone to paint your vehicle
to look just as rusty as the day you brought it
in?

I had recently purchased the '67 camaro and wanted
an experienced place that deals with hot rods and
classics
to take a look. I was impressed with everyone from
the beginning to the end. Very professional. I told
the guys that I was not the mechanic type and that
the only work that I do on my cars is "wax on wax
off". After a complete check of the car we all decided
that a new clutch and a new carb would be all to
have this car ready for spring. I'm very happy with
the everything from the intial vist to the explaination
of the work when I picked up my car. THANKS GUYS!!

Dear Doug;
The
job quoted and the communication set forth by your
staff was excellent. If there was any additional
work or parts that had to be approved by myself,
a detailed report was sent to my attention clearly
stating why the variation and change order was necessary.
The end result was a job completed on time and within
the stated job estimate. In addition the quality
of the mechanical and the bodywork was flawless.
Thanks again for looking after one of my prized

The communication between the staff and me from
the onset of the project was exceptional. I was
initially greeted by Doug Jenkins who knew just
what I wanted and how to go about doing it. He took
his time and explained every thing that needed to
be done to me. Beginning with him, I noticed that
I had already been treated with more sincere interest
and professionalism than in almost any other service
shop that I had visited.
I
was then in constant contact with Wayne Trider who
sent me E-mails detailing the costs and labor to
perform each function that I had requested. These
e-mails clearly described the parts to be ordered
and man hours to complete the installation.
The
quality of work performed on my vehicle was exceptional.
It is obvious to me that from the employee to answers
the phone at St. Louis Hot Rods to the most accomplished
mechanic, each individual takes an enormous amount
of pride in their work. After the project was completed
and the vehicle returned to me, Dave, the main mechanic
that worked on my car, responded to my home on two
occasions on his own time to address some issues
that were quickly and easily remedied. That kind
of service is hard to find.
The
finished project did exceed the original estimate.
This was due to the fact that additional parts and
services were needed which were unexpected at the
time the project was stared. When this occurred,
Mr. Trider notified me by telephone explaining the
situation, how to remedy it and the costs to do
so and also alternatives to correcting these issues.
In
closing, I will most certainly use St. Louis Hot
Rods in the future to service, repair or enhance
my vehicle. They are not the least expensive but
you definitely get what you pay for. You may add
me to your reference list.

I have owned the ford since 1970 but I was having
electrical problems that I couldn't solve, so the
car had been sitting in the garage for two years.
In
January, I call Doug after I had read an article
in the Post about the shop and told him that I needed
someone to check the car over and tell me what needed
attention.
Doug
came to my house that afternoon and picked up the
car on a trailer. I told him that This isn't a trailer
queen and I liked to drive it regularly, check it
out and tell me what we needed to do to make it
safe and reliable to drive.
Within
3 days, Chris had done a complete inspection and
you gave me a detailed estimate of what was needed,
how long it would take to fix, parts cost and labor.
I agreed to all and everything was done at the quoted
price , in the stated time and much to my satisfaction.
In addition, I had a couple of things I added to
the list as we went along and before each, I got
the same estimate and same results.
I
will be happy to be added to your reference list
and look forward to a continued relationship with
the Ford and my next project whatever that will
be.

I thought the communication was over and above.
I was contacted regularly about important issues
that needed to be addressed that were not covered
in the original deal. Things were found as the project
evolved that were not apparent at the outset but
they were important decisions that
I
wanted to be aware of and use my own judgment on
whether to move forward with the decision or disregard
it. I wanted my truck to look very street able but
also able to take a trophy at a show. I got just
what I wanted, in the timetable that we agreed to,
and for the quoted contract price.
The
quality and craftsmanship of the work was more that
I had expected. I had not seen this kind of quality
fit and finish on metal before. The paint was spectacular.
The whole project, as you can see, was first class.
I look forward to my next project with Doug Jenkins!

Our TR was in storage for nearly two years and had
only been driven infrequently over the past ten.
Doug's suggestion that I consider new vs rebuilt
